The Samsung Galaxy Fold is Coming Out This Month!

Flip phones are officially cool again, though not quite in the same manner.

Samsung has just announced what is probably one of the most-awaited mobile tech headlines of the year: Samsung’s first ever foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold, is getting released this coming April 26 in the United States, and May 3 for the UK and Europe. The phone was first announced in November of last year at Samsung’s Developer Conference in San Francisco. Later on, the phone was featured at the Galaxy Unpacked event held on February 20.

According to some of the early first impression reviews of the phone, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is indeed a marvel, not just to hold, but also to look at. The device is equipped with a 7.3-inch gorilla glass display that can fold right in the middle, with a dual-axis hinge that can lock into place to prevent the phone from opening up too much. The hinge apparently gives the phone a smoother folding motion. Thankfully, Samsung promises that the phone is designed to withstand more than 200,000 folds and unfolds, or roughly 100 per day for five years.

If you’re interested in getting one for yourself, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is priced at $1,980 / £1,800 / €2,000. For those who live in the US, AT&T is taking pre-orders now. T-Mobile doesn’t offer any pre-orders so you’ll have to wait for the phone’s launch next week. UK fans, on the other hand, will be able to purchase the phone in May from EE or from Samsung’s official website.
