Google’s AI Mode Can Now Book Your Hotel and Track Your Flight Price

Google has turned its AI Mode search assistant into a booking tool that can track flight prices and pay for your hotel room.

Google announced a set of updates to AI Mode that push it beyond search and recommendations into actual transactions. The update adds three main features:

  1. Flight price tracking
  2. Fare and rate pricing shown in miles or points
  3. Hotel booking completed inside the chat interface

This is Google’s clearest step yet toward agentic AI. It means an AI system that can complete tasks on a person’s behalf instead of only answering questions.

What’s new in the update

You can now tell AI Mode where and when you want to fly, and the tool pulls options from more than 300 airlines and travel sites, the same data source behind Google Flights. If you ask AI Mode to track a fare, you will get an email alert when the price changes. The feature is live today in more than 180 countries, though it does not yet cover the European Economic Area.

AI Mode can also show flight and hotel prices in airline miles or hotel points instead of cash. This is rolling out globally. Confirmed loyalty partners include Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Hilton, and Wyndham, with Accor, Hyatt, and Lufthansa Group expected to join soon.

Hotel booking is the most financially significant part of the update, since it lets users complete a purchase without leaving AI Mode. Here is how it works:

  • You describe a trip and hotel preferences to AI Mode.
  • AI Mode returns a list of hotel options along with guest reviews and other details for comparison.
  • You pick a hotel and select “Continue on Google.”
  • From there, you choose a room, review the cancellation policy, and pay through Google Pay.

The hotel or booking platform stays the merchant of record. That means the partner charges the card, sends the confirmation, and handles any changes or customer support. Google says it only passes along the information needed to complete the booking, such as name, payment details, occupancy, and the chosen property.

10 travel companies are part of the initial rollout:

  1. Booking.com
  2. Choice Hotels International
  3. Expedia
  4. Hilton
  5. Hotels.com
  6. IHG Hotels & Resorts
  7. Marriott International
  8. Priceline
  9. Trip.com
  10. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts

What’s missing in the update

Flight booking is not part of this update. You can track and compare flight prices inside AI Mode, but booking a flight still requires you to leave the chat and go to an airline or travel site directly. Google has not said when flight booking will arrive inside AI Mode.

Hotel booking is also limited for now. It is only available in the United States, in English, with plans to expand to more partners and languages over the coming weeks.

Why it matters

This update builds on a pattern Google has been testing for months. AI Mode already lets users book restaurant reservations through partners like OpenTable, Resy, and Tock, and buy event tickets through Ticketmaster and StubHub. Those bookings involve smaller amounts of money and lower risk. Hotel booking applies the same idea to a purchase that usually costs far more and involves more decisions, such as cancellation terms and room type.

If Google adds flight booking and expands hotel booking beyond the United States, AI Mode would work less like a search tool and more like a full travel agent that can plan a trip and complete the purchase in one place.
