Say ‘Alola’ To Pokémon Go’s Newest Update

When Niantic Labs first released their groundbreaking mobile app “Pokémon Go” in 2016, there were 151 discoverable Pokémon to be caught. The game caused a revolution, integrating Augmented Reality with the beloved franchise so kids and adults alike could venture into the world and “catch ’em all!”

Now, with the newest update to the app set to be released within the next few weeks, the roster of collectible Pokémon will be increased once again.

This time, the developers will be adding “Alolan Forms” of Pokémon previously discoverable from the Kanto region. Alolan forms were originally added into the franchise when Pokémon Sun and Moon debuted in 2016, putting an exciting twist on the original 151 Pokémon that players remember catching from the first titles Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow released in the U.S. in 1996.

While the Pokémon Go app has been delving in and out of popularity, Niantic Labs has consistently updated the game to include new features such as Raid Battles, Cosmetic Upgrades, and the roster of catchable Pokémon has doubled to over 300.

Despite the exact release date of the update being kept secret, there is no doubt that trainers will be keeping their phones close by to once again become immersed in the fantasy of catching their favorite Pokémon out in the real world.
