Remake Of ‘Zelda: Link’s Awakening’ For Switch Could Offer Multiplayer

In a recent Nintendo Direct video, the Japanese company revealed its plans to remake the 1993 classic The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for the Nintendo Switch later in 2019. But for many players, especially those that enjoy playing with others, that may not even be the best part.

Nintendo’s official page for the 2019 remake of Link’s Awakening for the Switch lists the number of players for the game as “To Be Determined,” leading to rumors and speculations as to whether or not there will be an online and/or local multiplayer mode in the game. This is certainly a fun and interesting concept for many, considering that the original 1993 game was exclusively for single players.

Multiplayer in Zelda, while cool, isn’t a revolutionary concept, though. Two other earlier games in the series, the Four Swords and The Wind Waker, have already explored the multiplayer option to some extent. In terms of a full multiplayer experience though, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes was the closest that the Zelda universe has ever gotten.

Will Link’s Awakening end up adding a multiplayer option? Looks like we just have to wait and find out.
