You Can Now Add 50 People to a Skype Group Chat

What if you could have an entire choir singing through Skype?

Enjoy chatting or talking with many people in group conversations? Well, now you can chat on Skype with up to 50 people at once, thanks to a new update rolled out today. The 50-person limit isn’t just limited to text chats, though. Now, you can also audio or video call up to 50 people at once with Skype’s new group chat update.

This basically trumps any other instant messaging apps out there, including Messenger, Telegram, WhatsApp, and Hangouts. On Facebook Messenger, for example, 50 people can join a chat, but only the first six people will be visible at any given time. On Skype’s new updated app, the participants are shown as bubbles on top of the screen and the user can choose which ones they want to focus on. Skype’s update even trumps Apple’s Group FaceTime, which only allows up to 32 people at once.

In addition to this, Skype is also starting to simplifying calls for users. Groups with less than 25 participants can just ring the entire group at once, just like a regular call. Meanwhile, groups with more than 25 participants can opt to just show the call as a notification rather than the usual ringing, to make it less intrusive.
