Grand Theft Auto 6 finally has a real release date, and you can pre-order it right now.

After years of waiting, Rockstar Games has locked in November 19, 2026, as the launch day. As preorders are open now, many gamers are curious about which consoles the game will run on, when PC players can expect their turn, and what the differences are between the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition.

If you have the same questions, let us answer them one by one.

Which Consoles Can Run GTA 6?

This is the part that matters most if you are wondering whether your current setup will work.

GTA 6 is launching only on the latest generation consoles, which include:

  • PlayStation 5
  • PlayStation 5 Pro
  • Xbox Series X
  • Xbox Series S

There is no version planned for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. If you are still on old hardware, you will need to upgrade to play the game at launch. A standard PS5 or Xbox Series S will run the game just fine. The PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X are more powerful, but Rockstar has not said the game requires them; it only says they will support them. There is also no confirmed version for Nintendo Switch 2 at this time.

What About PC?

There is no PC release date yet. Rockstar has confirmed only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for the November 19 launch, and has remained quiet on Windows plans.

This follows a pattern Rockstar has used before.

Grand Theft Auto 5 launched on consoles in September 2013 and did not arrive on PC until April 2015, a gap of 18 months. Red Dead Redemption 2 had a shorter wait, launching on PC about a year after its console debut. Based on that history, most industry watchers expect a GTA 6 PC version sometime in 2027 or later, but nothing is official. If you are a PC-only player, you will likely need to wait, and you should not expect a date announcement for a while.

GTA 6 Pre-Order Details

Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026. You can reserve your copy through the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store, the Rockstar Games Store, and major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop.

Here are a few things you should know before pre-ordering:

  • The physical retail version does not include a disc. Instead, the box contains a download code.
  • Both digital and physical buyers can pre-load the game starting November 12, 2026, one week before launch, so it is ready to play the moment it unlocks.
  • Anyone who pre-orders or purchases the game before November 20, 2026, receives a bonus called the Vintage Vice City Pack. This includes an in-game vehicle, a garage location, and vintage outfits for the two lead characters, Jason and Lucia.
  • Digital pre-orders also come with one free month of GTA+, Rockstar’s subscription service.

GTA 6 Standard Edition vs. Ultimate Edition

Rockstar is offering two editions at launch. There is no separate Deluxe tier and physical Collector’s Edition this time.

  • Standard Edition — $79.99

This includes the complete single-player story, following Jason and Lucia through the fictional state of Leonida and the city of Vice City. It is the full game with nothing missing from the main experience.

  • Ultimate Edition — $99.99

This includes everything in the Standard Edition, plus a set of exclusive extras such as premium vehicles (a classic sports car, a motorcycle, and a kayak), additional weapons, apparel, and extra content woven into the story as you play, rather than delivered all at once.

If you are not sure which one you want, there is no need to decide right now. Rockstar has confirmed that Standard Edition owners will be able to purchase an Ultimate Edition upgrade later, so you can start with the cheaper option and add the extra content afterward if you change your mind.
