Xbox One Receiving Mouse and Keyboard Support This Week

USB mouse and keyboard support for the Xbox One has been in testing for about a month now, with the only compatible game during that period being ‘Warframe.’ However, it seems that testing has finally paid off and come to a conclusion, as Microsoft announced today that universal mouse and keyboard support will be implemented on all Xbox One consoles this Wednesday, November 14th.

Now, unfortunately, only members of the Insider program will have access to this feature to begin with. This will serve as a sort of “post-test-test” to ensure that everything transitions smoothly and that no catastrophic bugs evaded testing. In the meantime, a handful of games will be receiving the feature support to start, including ‘Vermintide 2,’ ‘Strange Brigade,’ ‘Bomber Crew,’ and, most notably, ‘Fortnite.’ In the case of ‘Fortnite,’ though, mouse and keyboard players will only be matched with other mouse and keyboard players, so the player pool may be a bit shallow to start.

While any USB mouse and keyboard set should work fine with an Xbox One, Microsoft has partnered up with Razer to produce a line of special sets designed with Xbox One functionality in mind. Razer will be unveiling its first “Designed for Xbox” mouse and keyboard set at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
