Porsche Changes Name Of First Fully Electric Car

The first fully electric Porsche has adopted a new name: Taycan. Pronounced, “tie-con,” The name was released at an event for Porsche’s 70th anniversary. The name translates to “lively young horse,” embodying the steed in the brand’s logo.

It is set to be released in 2019 and is said to be “strong and dependable.” The brand ensures future customers that the electric vehicle will have no problem covering long distances. The car has two electric motors, one in the front and one in the back. The engines give it about 600 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Needless to say, it’s fast.

The luxury vehicle will be prices similarly to the Porsche Panamera. The starting price will be around $85,000 but if you want all of the luxurious features, the price will increase accordingly. By 2022, the company will have invested around $7 billion into electric vehicle technology, almost double what they originally planned.
