Galaxy Fold Release Date Remains Foggy

The Fold needs more time in the oven, but is anyone still craving pie?

Samsung’s much-anticipated and yet most controversial flagship, the Galaxy Fold, has been delayed for over a month now due to several issues involving its supposedly revolutionary foldable screen.

Now, Samsung says that it may have to push back the release date once again, as the company is apparently taking its time to fix all the device’s flaws. In a statement, the company said, “The improvement process is taking place extremely confidentially, and comments from telecom industry sources can’t be confirmed.”

The South Korean tech company ended up having to postpone the release date, initially scheduled for April 26 earlier this year, after early reviewers complained of various issues that arose on their days-old review units. Some units had blacked out screens, some had physical creases, others had visible problems in the LCD.

A few days before the planned launch, Samsung released an official statement saying that the Galaxy Fold launch would have to be pushed back, though those who availed pre-orders would have the choice to cancel for a full refund. It did promise, however, that the Galaxy Fold would be released sometime after May.

Now that the hype is dying down and the release has been delayed once again, one can only wonder when Samsung will actually be ready – and if the device will end up being worth the wait for consumers around the world.
