Fortnite Implements New ‘Gifting’ System

Do you have one of those adamantly F2P friends who plays ‘Fortnite’ as much as you do but refuses to shell out any actual money on resource harvesters, skins, or emotes, and just saves up the V Bucks they earn from playing in order to purchase the Battle Pass?

Well you’re in luck, because Epic Games has finally implemented a much requested ‘Gifting’ system.

After the update, if you head to the Item Shop, you will notice a ‘Buy As A Gift’ option whenever you open up the purchase tab for any item. Simply click this button, select the friend you’d like to send it to, and then you and your friend are good to go! Unless you are playing via iOS. But you can easily get around this by sending a gift to someone on PC or console.

There were some initial concerns about hacking, but Epic Games has placed some roadblocks to prevent that. Players will only be able to send gifts to friends that they have been friends with for at least 48 hours. If you are a regular player of ‘Fortnite,’ then it is safe to assume that you would log in at least once within the span of two days. And as such, you would become aware if your account has been compromised and you’d be able to get it locked down. Also, you are limited to sending three gifts within a 24 hour period. This is three gifts total, not three gifts per person.

This is a great little update to the game, and right in time for Christmas. If you’d like to send a friend the Christmas gift of a Rainbow Smash pickaxe that they always wanted, now you can.
