Amazon Pop-Up Stores Are Closing

Looks like MoviePass is not the only one closing down an office this year.

Amazon has announced its plans to close down all 87 of its pop-up stores, basically stores that allow interested customers in trying out the company’s products and services before buying, in the United States starting next month, April.

Some of the Amazon products that can be seen in pop-up stores include Kindle e-book readers, Echo smart speakers, and Fire tablets. An Amazon representative said in a statement to CNBC, “Across our Amazon network, we regularly evaluate our businesses to ensure we’re making thoughtful decisions around how we can best serve our customers. They add, “After much review, we came to the decision to discontinue our pop-up kiosk program, and are instead expanding Amazon Books and Amazon 4-star, where we provide a more comprehensive customer experience and broader selection.”

In contrast to this, Amazon is planning to open dozens of grocery stores and around 3,000 cashierless Amazon Go stores by 2022. The first grocery store is reportedly opening in Los Angeles, California later this year.
