Tips To Help Protect Your Child’s Online Identity

If your kids are online gamers, make sure your kids are following these tips to protect their identities.

Make sure they are sharing carefully. Don’t share personal information with anyone. This includes the school they go to, their real name, or where they live.

Ensure that their account is private. Turn the privacy settings ON and the location settings OFF.

Log out. When they are finished playing online, make sure they logout of their account.

Make them change their passwords often. Also make sure they use different passwords for different sites. This way, if one is compromised, the other sites won’t be.

Avoid click-bait. Tell them to skip those random quizzes and questionnaires. They are actually sneaky ways to get information about your child.

Lastly, make sure the username is appropriate. Make sure their name isn’t in the username and it isn’t anything provocative that may bring unwanted attention.

Hackers lurk on the internet and try to take advantage of young people who don’t know any better. Educate your child and keep them protected!
