How To Save Your iPhone’s Life

Apparently, I’ve been living my life (and my iPhone’s battery life) the completely wrong way. Business Insider released three “hacks” that actually cause you to waste more battery than save it. We all go into panic mode when we get that 10% warning and there isn’t a charger in sight. So here’s what not to do when that happens, and trust me, I’m guilty of all of these things.

Don’t Close Your Background Apps
Apparently, it takes more battery power to close all your running apps than to leave them on in the background. Refrain from double tapping that home button (or however you get that screen open with an iPhone X) and just ride it out on low power mode.

Turning Off Bluetooth and WiFi Does Nothing
You would think that your phone would use more energy searching for open networks to connect to, but it actually doesn’t do anything to turn them off. The same amount of power is used on your phone regardless of if those settings are on or off.

Auto-Brightness Actually Saves Power
For the longest time, people thought setting the auto-brightness setting on their phone would waste more battery than manually just raising and lowering the brightness. This is completely false, however. Just let your phone do its thing when your down to those last percentages.

At the end of the day, make sure you’re checking your battery usage log so you know what apps you might be using too much that suck the life out of your iPhone. With these tips, avoid panic mode and stay cool when your phone’s about to die right before you call that Uber.
