The Switch is already pretty compact, but let’s see if we can’t get it a little smaller.
In 2017, analysts from Citigroup Inc. predicted that the Nintendo Switch might get a ‘mini’ version in the future. In a statement, Citigroup analysts said, “Although the Nintendo Switch can be used as a handheld device, we think smaller children could struggle to use it comfortably in that format due to its size and weight. Accordingly, we think Nintendo will launch a lighter, dedicated handheld version of the Switch, possibly to be called the Switch Mini.”
And now, two years later, it seems like Citigroup’s analysts guessed correctly based on the Thursday report from Japan’s Nikkei paper.
The new device will reportedly be a lot smaller and lighter than the current Switch, which makes it more portable. This makes it easier to bring around wherever you go, be it in your backpack or suitcase. It will also still retain its unique feature: the ability to hook up to a television set and be used as a home console.
Nikkei says that Nintendo is also experimenting with several innovations in the next generation model of Switch, such as various operating system changes. The best part of the report is that this newer, smaller Switch is also apparently cheaper, which is good news for those who are interested in Nintendo’s hot-ticket console.
