Nintendo closed the summer showcase season on June 9 with its biggest Direct in years.
The show ran about 55 minutes and followed a packed week that included PlayStation’s State of Play, Summer Game Fest, the Xbox Showcase, and the PC Gaming Show. Nintendo was the last platform holder to take the stage, and it did not disappoint.
Here are all the major announcements from the show.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake
Ocarina of Time originally came out in 1998 on the Nintendo 64. It is an action-adventure game where you play as Link and explore a fantasy world to stop a villain named Ganondorf. It is widely considered one of the best games ever made. Nintendo has now confirmed a full remake for Switch 2 in 2026. No release date yet, but the announcement alone made it the most talked-about moment of the entire showcase season.
2. Kingdom Hearts 4
Kingdom Hearts is an action RPG series that mixes Disney worlds and characters with an original story. You fight using a giant key-shaped sword. The series has been going on since 2002. Kingdom Hearts 4 was first teased back in 2022, but went completely quiet after that. Square Enix finally showed a new trailer at this Direct and confirmed the game will be on Switch 2 at launch—still no release date.
3. Deltarune Chapter 5
Deltarune is a free RPG made by Toby Fox, the creator of the indie hit Undertale. It is released in chapters, not all at once. Chapter 5 is the next and will drop on June 24, 2026, as a free update on all platforms.
4. The Duskbloods
FromSoftware is the studio behind Dark Souls and Elden Ring, known for making tough, atmospheric action games. The Duskbloods is their new game, exclusive to Switch 2. It is a multiplayer game where you fight enemies in a dark world, but you can also form short-term alliances with other players.
5. Splatoon Raiders
Splatoon is Nintendo’s third-person shooter where players use colored ink instead of bullets. It is normally a team-based multiplayer game. Splatoon Raiders is a solo spin-off where you explore and search for treasure as an Inkling character. It launched on Switch 2 on July 23. A dedicated Direct with more details is set for June 30, 2026.
6. Rhythm Heaven Groove
Rhythm Heaven is a Nintendo series built entirely around timed button presses synced to music, featuring short, weird minigames. Think of it like a music game, but more playful and strange. This new entry has over 80 minigames in single-player and over 30 in co-op. It will launch on Switch on July 2.
7. Metaphor: ReFantazio
Made by Atlus, the team behind the popular Persona series, Metaphor: ReFantazio is a fantasy RPG that launched in late 2024. It was one of the highest-rated games of that year. It is now coming to Switch on November 12, 2026, so Switch players can finally try it.
8. Kingdom Hearts Collection I-III
This is a bundle of the main Kingdom Hearts games from the first to the third, now coming to Switch 2 on October 8. If you own the Switch 1 cloud version, you can upgrade at a discount.
9. Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World
Dragon Quest Monsters is a spin-off of the Dragon Quest RPG series. The concept is similar to Pokémon in that you collect monsters, train them, and use them in battle. This entry adds the ability to fuse two monsters together to create a new one. It has over 500 monsters and will release on December 3, 2026, on Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox, and PC.
10. Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Onimusha is an action game series by Capcom set in feudal Japan where samurai fight supernatural creatures. The last mainline entry came out in 2006, so this is a long-awaited return. The new game follows Miyamoto Musashi, a real-life swordsman and one of the most famous figures in Japanese history. It will release on September 25 on Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
11. Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV is a massively multiplayer online RPG by Square Enix, similar in structure to World of Warcraft. It has millions of active players worldwide and is set in a fantasy world called Eorzea. It is now coming to Switch 2 in August 2026, meaning you can play it on the go for the first time.
12. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2
Metal Gear Solid is a stealth-action series by Hideo Kojima, where you infiltrate enemy bases and avoid detection rather than go in guns blazing. Vol. 1 of this collection previously brought the older games to modern platforms. Vol. 2 will do the same and arrive on Switch 2 on August 27, 2026.
13. Rise of the Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider is an action-adventure series starring Lara Croft, an archaeologist who fights her way through ancient ruins and dangerous environments. Rise of the Tomb Raider is the 2015 sequel to the rebooted series and is considered one of its stronger entries. It is now available on Switch 2 as of June 9.
14. Observer: System Redux
Observer is a cyberpunk horror game where you play as a detective who can plug into dead people’s minds and explore their memories to solve cases. System Redux is the enhanced version with improved visuals. It will be available on Switch 2 on June 18.
15. DayZ
DayZ is a hardcore multiplayer survival game set in a zombie-infested open world. You start with nothing and have to find food, weapons, and shelter while other real players can either help or attack you. It is known for being brutal and unforgiving. It is coming to Switch 2 in 2026 under the name DayZ Cool Edition.
Bottom Line
Nintendo Treehouse coverage followed immediately after the Direct, with extended gameplay deep dives on some titles. A big second half of 2026 is shaping up for Switch 2 owners.
