Instagram Is Testing New ‘Donation’ Stickers For Fundraiser Stories

Instagram is testing a new feature within Stories that will allow users to attach ‘Donation’ stickers on fundraisers for a variety of nonprofit charities. The plan was first leaked on Monday by Jane Manchum Wong, an app researcher. It was later confirmed by Instagram itself.

With the new feature implemented, Instagram users can now search for nonprofit organizations and include it into their posted Story. Viewers can then tap on the ‘Donation’ sticker to contribute to the nonprofit if they wish.

In an announcement made to the media, Instagram said, “We are in early stages and working hard to bring this experience to our community.” The company also added, “Instagram is all about bringing you closer to the people and things you love, and a big part of that is showing support for and bringing awareness to meaningful communities and causes.”

Instagram is expected to launch the feature later this year. Currently, it’s still at its early stages of development, but the social media company remains optimistic. “We’re excited to bring this experience to our community and will share more updates in the coming months.”

It’s important to note that Instagram’s parent company Facebook already has features that allow users to include charities in their posts. Users are even encouraged to pick a cause to donate to that they can post for their birthday, which the user’s Friends can easily see and contribute to.
