‘Cuphead’ to be Playable on Tesla Dashboards

Old timey animation on new fangled tech.

I feel like there wouldn’t be much of a demand for really hard games to specifically play on a Tesla dashboard, but hey, I’m not Elon Musk. I don’t know how that guy thinks.

During a weekly Tesla podcast, Ride the Lightning, the eccentric CEO himself made an appearance to announce the addition of the face-crushingly difficult shoot-’em-up Cuphead to the Tesla game library. The Tesla Model 3, Model S, and Model X cars will be able to play the game sometime this Summer in an upcoming firmware update.

According to Musk, the game’s developer, Studio MDHR, pitched in to get the game running on the dashboard. The game is already running smoothly on the platform, and they’re just working on some little tweaks and bug fixes before the release proper. Unfortunately, due to a lack of storage space on the dashboard, the Tesla version of Cuphead only features the game’s first world, Inkwell Isle One. You’ll also need a USB-connected controller to play, though considering the nature of Cuphead, that’s probably for the best. Try to play that one with a touch screen, and you’ll end up putting your fist through it.

No word yet on pricing for the Tesla version or if the rest of the game will eventually appear on the platform. The Tesla dashboard currently supports a handful of classic games like Missile Command and Asteroids, though Musk is hoping to get some beefier games on there soon.
