Why You Need A Qoobo

As a tech lover, the worst feeling in the world is when I’m in the middle of a match on my PC and my cat decides to jump in front of the monitor, blurring victory out of my site. As a person with anxiety, I realize I cannot get rid of my cat due to the emotional support he provides me. Therefore, a middle-ground solution had to be invented.

Behold, Qoobo. Created by Yukai Engineering Co, this little robot’s name is derived from the French words for “tail” and “robot.” That’s essentially because that’s all he/she is… a robot with a tail. Qoobo is meant to be a therapeutic substitute for those who can’t have or handle real life animals and the stressors that come with it. The responsive fur ball will wag its tail when you pet it, and playful swing it at high speeds if you rub the right spot.

Additionally, Qoobo will sometimes wag it’s tail just so you know it’s still watching over you and can vibrate to imitate the purring of a cat. The designers cite the benefits of Qoobo to be for those with depression, anxiety, and loneliness. And the best part is, you don’t have to feed or clean up after it.

2018 is strange. Technology is making our pillows come to life. Granted, I still want one but it reminds me of my former childhood toy Pillow Pets that didn’t actually have any hard-wiring inside them.
