Meet HEXA, the six legged robot from your nightmares. Vincross created a Kickstarter campaign for this cute yet creepy mechanized menace, and after quickly reaching its goal, it could be crawling into your home anytime soon. With three joints in each of its legs, multiple sensors, and an HD camera; HEXA can traverse difficult obstacles, climb stairs, and quickly learn and adapt to the environment around it. It can also do a cute little dance.
Users get a software development kit with access to the HEXA’s operating system. Using their computer, owners will get to program new applications for the robot for advancing it’s skill set, while offering availability to recognize customizable hand gestures. With access to the MIND operating system HEXA could even access smart-home technology, such as Alexa and Google Home.
As the operating system advances, users will be able to code HEXA to do whatever they want. It’s been shown to even write sentences and recognize color. While the practical applications of HEXA have not really been… discussed, it was built as an attempt to out-power two and four-legged robots, while also having a compact design. The spider-like inspiration was just added for extra creepiness.
