What’s in the Pipeline For the Next-Gen iPad?

Apple is releasing the next generation of iPads sooner or later this year. In fact, the announcement is expected to come at the Apple event this coming March 25th.

In the meantime though, here’s what we can expect from the next-gen Apple iPad, according to a report from Digital Trends.

New Features

The new iPads, naturally, are expected to have received a couple of upgrades from the previous generation. Design-wise, the next-gen iPads may keep the touch ID as well as the bezels, contrary to popular belief. However, it is entirely possible that the bezels will be much smaller than usual. Apple expert Ming Chi Kuo says that while the chassis will remain the same as this generation of iPads, the screen size could increase up to 10 inches, due to the reduction in bezel size. Meanwhile, the 2019 iPads are expected to carry an upgraded A11 chip, a step forward from the 2018 version’s A10 chip. It may also come with twin-cameras, which would enable Portrait mode.

Price

Price-wise, Apple iPads actually seem rather affordable, at least when compared to the rest of Apple’s list of products. In fact, the next-gen iPads are expected to start at less than $400 for the base model (32 GB, Wi-Fi), going up to less than $600 for the most high-end variant (128 GB, Cellular).

Release Date

There are no set release dates at the moment, but some are expecting them to be available for retail sometime this month, possibly after the announcement at the March 25th Apple event. A cheaper, smaller iPad Mini is also expected to come out later this year, but like the new iPads, no official news has been released about them yet.
