Tech And Music Collide And This Is What Happened

The Tech Behind The Music

The world of music is constantly evolving with new technological innovations changing the way we think and hear music. One of the biggest transitions in the music world was combining tech with an acoustic instrument, the electric guitar. We explore the evolution of the electric guitar and celebrate one of the biggest collaborations with tech and music.

The first acoustic guitar was around in the 1800s with the electric guitar making its debut in the 1930s and the fully electrical guitar was created in the 1940s. The first electrically amplified guitar was discovered in 1931 and the American musician, BB King, made the electric guitar popular in the 1940s.

The electric guitar created one of the biggest impacts in the history of music through inspiring artists and creating new genres around the sound and aesthetic of the electric sound. Almost every musician and singer uses an electric guitar in their band now.

Gibson made their first electric guitar in 1936 with Stratocaster creating their first in 1954. The most historic and expensive electric guitars were the ‘Blackie’ Stratocaster owned by Eric Clapton and was auctioned for $959,500 in 2004.
