‘Smash Ultimate’ Roster Potentially Leaked

A blurry Super Smash Bros. Ultimate banner has been circulating around the internet over the last few days. This banner features the promotional art of all of the characters in the game, which has been featured in the multiple Smash Ultimate presentations Nintendo has hosted as new characters were announced. What makes this particular blurry banner interesting is that it features characters that have not been confirmed for the game. Take this with a mountain of salt, but the remainder of the roster may very well have been leaked.

The image was supposedly leaked on the Snapchat page of a promotional artist for Marina PLV, a company that creates promotional artwork for multiple game companies. Eagle-eyed users have scrutinized the blurry image, and found the following seven characters:

  • Shadow the Hedgehog from the ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ series
  • Banjo the bear and Kazooie the bird of the ‘Banjo-Kazooie’ series
  • Isaac from the ‘Golden Sun’ series
  • Ken Masters from the ‘Street Fighter’ series
  • Mach Rider from the 1985 NES title of the same name
  • Geno from ‘Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars’
  • The Chorus Kids from the ‘Rhythm Heaven’ series

Many users are skeptical of this image, claiming its blurriness is merely a cover for photoshopping the characters in, though others have noted that these characters do not have existing high resolution art that could be used for photoshopping. This would mean that the leaker would have had to create entirely new artwork, which would be a large undertaking just to spread false info.

Nintendo has not commented on the leak. One more Smash Ultimate presentation is rumored to be scheduled some time in early November. Since the game releases in December, if we’re going to get answers, it’ll probably be then.
