OnePlus, the renowned smartphone manufacturer, has been making waves in the tech community with its upcoming foldable device, rumored to be named the OnePlus Open. The company had earlier hinted at a potential third-quarter release, but recent reports suggest a delay with a promising rationale. Leaked renders and specifications of the OnePlus Open first emerged in June, giving enthusiasts a sneak peek into the innovative gadget. Now, tipster extraordinaire Steve Hemmerstoffer, better known as onleaks, has graced us with fresh updates in the form of new renders.

Onleaks shared that these updated visuals are based on pre-production unit photos, making them the most authentic representation of the forthcoming foldable phone. Unlike previous CAD-based leaks, these images provide a closer look at what to expect. A significant distinction in these updated renders is the OnePlus Open’s altered dimensions. The phone appears more compact compared to the previously leaked design, adopting a wider aspect ratio reminiscent of the OPPO Find N2 or the Google Pixel Fold. Impressively diminutive, the device almost resembles the size of a wallet, boasting sleek curved edges on all sides.

Delving into the back panel, the circular camera module has undergone transformations since its initial appearance. Now larger and slightly modified, this module accommodates two sensors, a periscope lens, an ‘H’ branding indicating Hasselblad’s involvement, and a mysterious additional sensor that could potentially be a Time-of-Flight or LiDAR sensor. A noticeable enhancement is the increased size of the LED flash unit, still situated at the top left corner. The back panel itself showcases a luxurious faux leather texture, adding an element of sophistication.

Moving on to the display, thin bezels grace both the interior and exterior screens of the OnePlus Open. A central punch-hole cutout adorns the primary display, while the interior screen features this cutout at the top right corner. Notably, the phone’s boxy form factor is a striking departure from earlier renders. The right edge houses the power and volume rocker buttons, with the power button potentially serving as a fingerprint scanner. Meanwhile, the iconic Alert Slider resides on the left side, aligning with the brand’s signature design language.

Audio enthusiasts will rejoice in learning that the foldable phone is equipped with quad speakers and top and bottom speaker grilles. As anticipation mounts, tech aficionados eagerly await further updates and an official release date from OnePlus.
