You should be able to enjoy ice cream without worrying about the environment.
You can now add getting ice cream to the list of “my how things have changed” when talking to your children. The concept of getting that ice cream from a truck remains intact, but the delivery is slightly different.
Nissan has taken its eco-friendly mission to the ice cream truck world. This recently revealed truck is better for the environment from start to stop. Designed in the shape of its small van, Nissan replaced the internal combustion engine (ICE, no pun intended), with a battery-electric powertrain.
So, what sparked this sudden need for an ice cream truck change? The ice cream itself, of course! Those old ice cream trucks needed to keep their motor running to keep the refrigeration system powered up. With the diesel engines staying on, the environment was taking a huge hit.
Nissan allowed their creative geniuses to design a new system to stop this polluting system. Nissan uses an Energy Roam system that uses recycled Nissan EV batteries as a portable power pack that delivers energy when needed. The ice cream stays cool and the environment remains clean.
The van doesn’t allow for ice cream serving to happen from the back of the van, so the driver serves the ice cream from outside the truck. This added personal touch enhances the ice cream experience. On the side of the van, you will be able to quickly pay using a terminal.
And, the music that we used to drop everything and run towards no longer exists. You can have a code sent to your device and know exactly where the van is parked. This will prevent any opportunity for the kids to be running out in the street when other cars are flying by.
The truck is in the early stages of becoming the new wave of ice cream selling. You will hear the old ice cream music again this summer, but soon enough, this type of van will be hitting the streets and saving the environment with delicious ice cream!
