Personalizing your Mac is a fun way to make it feel uniquely yours. With just a few simple steps, you can customize everything from the desktop background to the sound effects. Here’s how to get started!
Change the Desktop Background
Your desktop background is one of the first things you see. To change it:
- Click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner.
- Select System Preferences, then choose Desktop & Screen Saver.
- Browse through the options or click the + button to add your own images. Select your favorite photo, and it’ll be set as your background!
Customize the Dock
The Dock is where your favorite apps live. You can customize it by:
- Right-clicking on an app icon in the Dock to remove it or keep it there.

You can change the sounds your Mac makes:
- Go to System Preferences and select Sound.
- Click on the Sound Effects tab to choose different alert sounds.

Keep your desktop tidy by organizing your files. Create folders for documents, images, or projects. Right-click on the desktop and select New Folder to get started!
