Blizzard Brings Us To Busan

Blizzard is back after the launch of Battle For Azeroth by focusing on its first-person shooter, Overwatch. First, there was the teasing of brand new Lego branded play-sets featuring the cast of Overwatch characters. Next, there was the announcement of a new line of animated shorts with brand new content. And immediately following all of this hype, they delivered.

Shortly after the release of the D.Va-centered short film, “Shooting Star,” the brand new control map Busan went to public testing. While control maps aren’t usually a favorite, this one has a unique, eastern flare that brings thriving technology and bright blue skies to the world. It’s a polar opposite of maps like Nepal, with a colorful and modern environment.

There also some great easter eggs filled in the map as well. You can emote on a dance machine in the arcade to get “perfect” to appear on the screen as you groove to the rhythm. There’s a giant inflatable cow that you can shoot to make jiggle, and there’s an entire sanctuary area filled with pots and breakables that give off a huge Legend of Zelda vibe.

Considering D.Va is a professional e-sports player in the realm of Overwatch, it would make sense that there are references all over the map to other games. The introduction of this South Korean map shows that Blizzard Entertainment and the whole Overwatch team is dedicated to improving the game, making it feel new, and spreading the diversity of its locations.
