Walmart Considering its Own Game Streaming Service

Consider the floodgates officially opened.

More and more companies have been starting to delve into the gaming sector recently, and it seems like another company may soon add to the list. Rumor has it that US retail giant Walmart is also thinking of developing its own game streaming service, following in the footsteps of Google’s recently unveiled Google Stadia.

In a report posted on USGamer, it was rumored that the retail chain may have been conducting meetings that concerned a streaming platform planned to be released sometime this year, at least according to several anonymous sources who spoke with USG. Walmart also apparently held a meeting at GDC 2019 regarding the same streaming platform.

Walmart has not yet confirmed any of these rumors, but a game streaming service does seem like something the retail giant may do, considering its latest expansions into the digital space. Previously, it also considered developing a TV streaming service similar to Netflix, but in the end, it decided to focus instead on Vudu, its pay-per-view service.
