The Internet giant is acquiring Nest, a company that makes smart thermostats and smoke alarms, for $3.2 billion in cash. Here’s why Google bought Nest.
By buying Nest, Google now has access to private information that was never under its purview. Thus, the internet search giant could have a greater presence in homes across the country.
Nest addressed privacy concerns in a blog on its website : “Our privacy policy clearly limits the use of customer information to providing and improving Nest’s products and services,” the company writes.
