World Of Warcraft: Launch Day Chaos

Every time a new World of Warcraft expansion is released, the hype train is rebooted for this long-lived MMORPG. But one thing gamers seem to forget is how glitchy the launch of a new game like this can be. Players have been reporting all day that they can barely get past the log-in screen due to high traffic. Quests are disappearing from their quest logs, they’re getting booted off the server for no reason, and the queue lines just to get to the character select screen are longer than imaginable.

But gamers should expect this by now. Warlords of Draenor was one of the most stressful launches imaginable. For Mists of Pandaria, I stayed up 48 hours straight. All of us WoW lovers want to be the first to experience the new content, so we try and dive right into the game. Unfortunately, even a huge company like Blizzard Entertainment can’t even keep up with the demand, especially with a global launch. And while Battle For Azeroth is shaping up to an amazing expansion, how will we be able to know if the servers aren’t even working?

Usually it takes about 18-30 hours for Blizzard to work out all of the kinks, but playing an online game like WoW on its release is always going to be a choppy experience that doesn’t immerse players fully into the craft and expertise of the game. There will be lag, glitches, and just downright broken aspects. Us devoted fans just don’t have the patience to wait for everything to be smoothed out.

Regardless of if the release of a new expansion is seamless or not, players will undoubtedly come back to the game to experience the new content. By now, everyone should expect the slow start. There’s no reason to put the company on blast for having a game that’s almost TOO popular.
