This is it, folks. Samsung just showed off its newest Galaxy 10 lineup at the Unpacked event held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
The South Korean giant unveiled not just one, two, or three, but four phones at the event. First up is the newest Galaxy S10, the direct successor to last year’s Galaxy S9. We also have the Galaxy S10 Plus, another successor, this time to the Galaxy S9 Plus.
The two phones are both powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor and are equipped with 1440-pixel wide 19:9 OLED panels with 6.1 inches and 6.4 inches of screen space, respectively. Both have curved screens, making them easier to hold. They also have a new hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera at the front, with the Galaxy S10 getting a circular hole and the Galaxy s10 Plus getting a wider, more oblong hole for its two front cameras.
The phones also have in-screen fingerprint scanners, which Samsung claims is the ‘most advanced’ on the market as it’s apparently more ‘reliable’ and ‘harder to spoof’. They come with three back cameras: one wide lens, one super wide lens, and one telephoto lens. They have 8GB or 12GB of RAM and the S10 can store up to 512GB of storage and up to 1TB for the S10 Plus. Battery-wise, both are pretty decent, with 3,400 mAH for the S10 and 4,100 mAH for the S10 Plus, which supports fast charging. They can even charge a second device through their back panels, such as the new Galaxy Buds wireless headphones.
The third phone to be showed off is the 5G-enabled Galaxy S10 5G, which will allow users to access 5G cellular networks. It’s the first 5G-enabled smartphone from Samsung, but no other details have been mentioned so far.
The fourth and most-awaited phone is the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Samsung’s first foldable smartphone. The device can transform from a phone with a 4.6-inch screen to a phablet with a 7.1-inch screen.
Prices for the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus start at $899 and $999, respectively, while the Galaxy Fold starts at $1980. No prices have been announced for the Galaxy S10 5G as of writing.
