Here’s A List of Obsolete Gadgets From The Last 50 Years

Technology is progressing scarily fast. So fast, in fact, that not everyone can keep up with its development and progress. Each year, more and more ‘old-fashioned’ items have been going obsolete right under our noses. The speed that technology is advancing is so fast, it has become virtually impossible for these items to keep up. Here are five of the everyday objects that have gone obsolete over the last 50 years, thanks to technology. Do you remember these items? If you do, you may be older than you think!

Pagers

If you’re a millennial, you’ve certainly seen a pager when you were younger. You might have even used one yourself. Nowadays, you’d be hard-pressed to find a typical person with a pager. They’re still useful when it comes to emergencies though, as they are generally more reliable than your trusty smartphone.

CDs

CDs are obsolete now? We still remember the time when we used to install new computer applications using CDs. Some of us may even still have a CD collection at home. Thanks to the increasing presence of digital media, though, CD production has seen a steady decline throughout the years.

Dial-up Internet

When dial-up internet was first launched in the 1990’s, teenagers and adults alike from everywhere in the Western World cheered in happiness. Aside from its reputation of turtle-slow speeds and messing with phone lines, dial-up internet was like the modern antidote for extreme boredom, at least back in those days.

Typewriters

Computers and more specifically, lightweight, portable laptops, have officially replaced this now archaic device. While typewritten content was the better choice as opposed to handwritten content, it can’t be denied that it does come with a whole slew of cons as well. Sadly, those cons have finally turned it almost obsolete after decades of being the top choice in producing the written word.

Floppy Disks

This is another item that 80’s and 90’s kids probably have some experience with. Unfortunately, floppy disks are a lot more fragile and easier to break than the modern flash drives, which rendered them obsolete once the latter took off.
