There’s a new sheriff in this here foyer.

Alexa’s newest feature is all about security. In a world where everything is getting easier and easier to compromise and hack into, it’s even more important to make sure that your accounts and sensitive information are always secure from prying eyes.

With that said, here’s everything you need to know about Alexa’s Guard Mode.

Alexa Guard: your home security all-in-one

Alexa Guard offers security like no other. On Echo devices, this feature makes it possible to ensure that everything is going smoothly at home, even when you’re outside.

Think of it as a guard that alerts you immediately in case anything suspicious happens inside your home while you’re away. It can detect any suspicious or unexpected noises or sounds and send you notifications if there happens to be one.

Other than that, Alexa Guard can also control your smart lightning and make it appear as though there is someone inside your house at all times, thus discouraging robbers from targeting your home.

What Alexa Guard Can’t Do

Despite that, it doesn’t mean that the Alexa Guard is also a magic bullet that can stop all criminals from breaking into your home. For one, it’s merely a watcher, not a doer. Alexa Guard can alert you in case something suspicious is happening, but it can’t do anything about it.

An actual alarm system will be much more useful in case something does happen, since those systems usually automatically call authorities when they go off.

Alexa Guard: Yay or nay?

It’s certainly a useful feature, that we can say. While we don’t suggest relying only on it, you can use it in accordance with other security measures that you already have at home.

Don’t have the latest version of the Alexa App yet but own at least one compatible Echo devic e? Be sure to update and get Alexa Guard as soon as you can!
