Director Tetsuya Nomura for the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3 announced that the release date for the game will be announced early next month, most likely coinciding with E3. So while we wait for the official announcement, let’s rewind and take a look at everything we know so far about the game.
We know for a fact that new Disney worlds will be introduced, this time teamed up with Pixar. Some of the revealed worlds include beloved franchises such as Toy Story, Monster’s Inc., and Tangled. Other new characters set to appear include Ralph from Wreck-It Ralph and Baymax from Big Hero 6.
The game will be more open and expansive than any Kingdom Heart’s game in the past. Additionally, it will feature retro-style classic mini games, and the Gummy Ship will make a return with two different modes: battle and exploration.
The combat system is also getting revamped with new Keyblade upgrades, special moves, and attacks based on beloved DisneyWorld attractions. Each world will have its own unique attack based on the theming of the world, and rare heartless are said to spawn in designated missions now.
Lastly, and most mysteriously, Nomura made the ominous comment that the final stage of the Kingdom Hearts 3 features something that “is really a compilation of everything up until now.”
While we won’t know what the means until the game’s release, that doesn’t keep us hopeful Keyblade wielders from speculating in the meantime.
