Showtime has picked up a ‘Halo’ live-action TV show after almost three years of talk and speculation. Gaming fans rejoice, as Digital Trends has just announced that the star of the show is none other than Master Chief himself. But don’t fear, for this won’t be a retelling of the Microsoft shooter we’ve been playing for years. The story will be brand new, contain a mix of fresh faces and new protagonists, and is sure to fire up the television industry as “one of the most ambitious video-game to television crossovers” to date.
As gamers patiently await the release of the franchise’s newest video game ‘Halo Infinite’ later this year, we won’t be getting the show anytime sooner than that, either. Production on the show is set to start by the end of this year, but the full feature won’t be released until sometime in 2020. I think, however, most Halo fans will agree that it’ll be worth the wait. We’ll have the brand new game to tide us over in the mean time.
The show will be a ten-episode drama series, and Showtime CEO David Nevins claims that fans will be “rewarded” as “Kyle Killen’s scrips are thrilling, expansive, and provocative.” Alongside Killen is Rupert Wyatt set as director for the show, but no casting has been announced at this time.
