New research suggests an ancient underground city may lie hidden beneath Egypt’s famous pyramids, challenging everything we know about history.

The pyramids of Egypt have always been surrounded by mystery, but a new discovery has taken the intrigue to another level. Scientists claim to have found evidence of a vast underground city buried beneath the famous Pyramid of Khafre. If true, this discovery could completely change what we know about ancient Egypt—and even human history!

A Hidden World Beneath the Pyramids?

A team of researchers from Italy and Scotland recently used advanced radar technology to scan deep below the Giza Plateau. What they found was shocking—massive underground wells, tunnels, and chambers stretching more than 4,000 feet beneath the pyramid.

According to the team, the formations resemble spiral wells leading to huge hidden chambers. These could be part of an intricate underground city, possibly built by an advanced civilization that existed long before the Pharaohs.

Niccole Ciccolo, a forensic expert involved in the research, compared the structures to the Pozzo di San Patrizio, a famous spiraling well in Italy. The discovery suggests that ancient Egyptians may have built their pyramids over an already-existing city.

Could This City Be 38,000 Years Old?

One of the most astonishing claims from the research team is that this underground city could be around 38,000 years old. That would make it tens of thousands of years older than the pyramids themselves and challenge everything we know about human civilization.

The researchers point to ancient Egyptian texts as evidence. They reference:

  • Chapter 149 of the Book of the Dead, which speaks of “14 dwellings of the divine”—which they believe describes remnants of this lost civilization.

  • The Turin King List, an ancient Egyptian document that mentions gods and demigods ruling Egypt before recorded history.

The team suggests that these “gods” may have actually been real rulers of a forgotten civilization that lived in Egypt long before the Pharaohs.

Experts Are Skeptical

While the claims are exciting, many archaeologists are not convinced.

  • Professor Lawrence Conyers, a radar expert from the University of Denver, questioned the study’s accuracy. He argued that without physical evidence, the research lacks scientific proof.

  • Dr. Zahi Hawass, Egypt’s former Minister of Antiquities, dismissed the findings entirely, saying the research was “completely wrong” and lacked proper validation.

However, the team insists their findings are based on real data and is calling for further investigations to confirm their discovery.

Could an Ancient Underground City Really Exist?

While mainstream experts remain doubtful, history has shown that many groundbreaking discoveries were once thought impossible. Ancient cultures often built over older structures, just as the Mayans built pyramids over sacred caves. Could the same be true for Egypt?

The researchers plan to conduct more studies and scans, hoping to prove their theory once and for all. If they’re right, this could be one of the most important archaeological discoveries of all time.
