As one of the most recognizable and beloved figures in the gaming community, Major Nelson has been the public face of Xbox consoles for many years.

Hryb’s journey with Microsoft began in 2001 when he joined as the editor-in-chief of MSN Music. Just a few years later, he transitioned to the Xbox program as a senior project manager. There, he pioneered the Major Nelson Radio podcast, which eventually evolved into the Official Xbox Podcast, earning him widespread recognition among Xbox owners. In 2012, he took on the role of senior director of corporate communications while maintaining his beloved Major Nelson persona and continuing to work passionately in the Xbox division, committed to creating the most innovative gaming platform on the planet.
While Major Nelson’s departure marks the end of an era, he plans to spend valuable time with his family and savor the Seattle summer. His future projects remain shrouded in mystery, but he did tease that he is currently working on a few ventures.
As a result of his departure, the official Xbox Podcast will take a hiatus over the summer and then return in a fresh, new format.
