Esports Fanbase to Increase by 59% by 2023

The world of competitive gaming continues to gain more ground each and every year, and the future of esports is looking very bright. Esports already have viewership numbers comparable to that of traditional sports, and by 2023, it is estimated that there will be roughly 600 million esports fans worldwide.

Currently, there are roughly 378 million esports fans around the world, with the figure growing every day. Gaming has officially gone mainstream, and with it comes mainstream popularity. Everyone from the U.S military, to Michael Jordan, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and rapper Drake have gotten in on the craze. By 2023, the esports industry is projected to hit a whopping 2.17 billion dollars.

Esports has a huge advantage over tradional sports, in the sense that there’s something for pretty much everyone. With basketball, all you get is basketball. With football, all you get is football. But with esports, you’ve got fighting games, FPS games, sports games, racing games, MOBAs, and more. The variety of esports can’t be matched, and it’s also more appealing due to the fact that a career as a professional gamer is a lot more plausible. With enough time and effort, it’s more than possible to become a pro gamer.

By 2023, the biggest esports events of the year might pull in bigger crowds than the Super Bowl or NCAA Final Four. Video games are on the rise, and here to stay.
