An Icy Discovery

NASA’s Moon Mineralogy Mapper has just made a huge discovery that will forever change the future of space and moon missions. According to this newfound discovery, there are ice caps on the north and south poles of the moon, which signifies that water is present beneath its surface.

On the south pole, there are more concentrated layers of ice filling moon craters, whereas in the north there are more spread out layers. Additionally, since the moon is tilted at an angle, the sun’s light never directly hits the patches, which means the ice will stay frozen and not melt.

This is the first time in history that there is definitive, scientific proof that water exists on the surface. Scientists and astronauts alike are hoping that future missions to the moon can utilize this water to help further their ventures; specifically, a future lunar settlement. With water being accessible, it may be possible to (one day, far, far away,) have citizens potentially living on the moon. Some day.
