‘Fortnite’ Hits 200 Million Player Milestone

‘Fortnite’ has just achieved a huge milestone in the world of gaming: it just past the 200 million player milestone!

Back in January, the Battle Royale had around 40 million players. With a few days left in November, that number has increased to a whopping 200 million. That’s a 60% increase from the figure back in June, around 125 million players.

Epic Games has been making all the right moves. ‘Fortnite’ has popularized the Battle Royale sub-genre, with everyone jumping on the bandwagon. Many clones of the game have popped up, but no other Battle Royale comes close to the wacky cartoon aesthetic that is ‘Fortnite.’

No doubt contributing to the massive growth in their player base. ‘Fortnite’ can be played on every single gaming console/platform that matters. ‘Fortnite’ is available for PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Android and iOS devices. Play it at home, play it on the go, but as the player base figure clearly displays, people are playing ‘Fortnite.’

Epic Games is also ramping up their efforts to get ‘Fortnite’ taken more seriously on an eSports level. It won’t be easy, but Epic Games has already devoted a lot of time, effort, and money to creating more and more tournaments. Whether or not the Battle Royale sub-genre is a fad is up for debate, but it is clear that ‘Fortnite’ isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
