They need more time to wrangle the little guy.

Back when it was announced in 2019, the idea of a Lord of the Rings game where you play as Gollum, the skinny creepy dude obsessed with a ring, seemed downright bizarre. However, as the game has developed, it’s become a more interesting prospect, combining stealth and trap-focused gameplay with a decision-making mechanic wherein Gollum must compete with his alter-ego, Smeagol, to make decisions.

Unfortunately, despite the game’s original planned release for 2021, it was delayed to September of 2022. If you were hoping to get in Gollum’s nonexistent shoes then, though, keep hoping, because the game has been delayed once again. In an announcement posted on the game’s official Twitter, Daedelic Entertainment announced that they would need a few more months to get the game where they wanted it.

“First of all, we would like to thank all of you for your patience and support so far. Over the last few years, our team has been working hard to bring you a remarkable story in a breathtaking world, fill with magic and wonder. We are dedicated to meeting our community’s expectations and uncovering the untold story of Gollum in a way that honors the vision of J.R.R. Tolkien. That being said, in order to deliver the best possible experience, we have decided to push the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum by a few months. We will update you with an exact timing in the near future. We are grateful for our passionate community and we cannot wait to share this unique adventure with you soon!”

The new release date has not been divulged at the time of writing.
