This morning, Sora Ltd. head and director of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Masahiro Sakurai, held a presentation on Nintendo’s YouTube channel to talk about the newest DLC additions to the game’s roster, Pyra and Mythra of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

If you’ve played Xenoblade Chronicles 2, you’d know that Pyra and Mythra are two distinct personalities dwelling within the same body and swapping control. Nintendo has integrated this into Smash by making them a two-in-one character that you can switch between on the fly, not unlike Zelda and Sheik back in Super Smash Bros. Melee, albeit with less drastic differences between their movesets. Pyra’s moves are slower but deal more damage and have a fiery flair, while Mythra’s moves are a bit weaker, but come out faster and in larger quantities. While the protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Rex, is not playable, he makes several cameos in their Final Smashes, intros, and taunts.

Besides Pyra/Mythra, the game will be receiving a new Xenoblade Chronicles 2-themed stage, a slew of 16 new music tracks, and a handful of new Mii Fighter costumes themed around Monster Hunter and Ghosts ‘n Goblins. The character, stage, and music are included in Fighter Pass 2, and can also be purchased separately for $5.99. The new Mii costumes will launch at the same time for $0.75 a pop.

Speaking of, in typical Nintendo fashion, Sakurai dropped the news that this new content will, in fact, be releasing later today. He didn’t specify an exact time, which means the eShop will probably be inundated with users watching like hawks for the entire rest of the day. Hope you didn’t have anything important you wanted to download today.
