PC Gamers Will Love New ‘Battlefield V’ Update

Battlefield V‘s newest update is bringing Nvidia’s ray-tracing optimizations and special DLSS (deep learning super-sampling) support to PC gamers, which results to a better overall game performance especially for those who enjoy playing in 4K or UHD resolutions.

As some of you may remember, Nvidia unveiled its DLSS technology at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. DLSS is a form of game rendering that uses machine learning to deliver detailed graphics without causing the performance to dip. According to Nvidia’s keynote at CES 2019, special algorithms process a large sample of input frames that are studied by AI on the tensor core (Nvidia’s newest type of processing core) in order to render scenes faster without noticeably degrading the quality of the game’s images. Nvidia’s CEO, Jenson Huang, said that “DLSS rendering will add more details to scenes as compared to traditional anti-aliasing, or TAA, techniques.”

Battlefield V‘s developer DICE also announced, “This update includes further optimizations to DXR ray tracing performance and introduces NVIDIA DLSS to Battlefield V, which uses deep learning to improve game performance while maintaining visual quality.”

Other than this, the update will also add a new four-player co-op mode to the game called ‘Combined Arms.’ According to the game’s update notes, this new mode will let players “bring friends to challenge A.I. enemies and improve your skills before jumping into multiplayer.” Players can also opt for solo play or squad play with a maximum of three friends to “tackle eight PvE (Player versus Environment) missions set behind enemy lines, with four different objectives across four maps.”

The update went into effect yesterday, February 12, 2019.
