Limbus Company’s Rating Takes a Hit

Limbus Company, a popular turn-based RPG, is currently facing a wave of negative reviews on Steam, all stemming from discontent among its fanbase. The criticism revolves around two main issues: unaddressed problems in the game and a controversial swimsuit design.

On a Reddit thread, a concerned user compiled a list of ongoing issues within Limbus Company, expressing frustration over the lack of response from the developer, ProjectMoon. Despite attempts by the community to communicate these problems for a week, ProjectMoon remained unresponsive, leading to growing dissatisfaction among players. In response, players decided to make their voices heard by review-bombing the game.

One of the major grievances among players is the introduction of Tier 4 Up tie, a new level uncap tier that requires a substantial investment. Players were disheartened when they discovered incorrect descriptions and character downgrades due to bugs, leaving them unsatisfied with the investment return. The high resource demand for Tier 4 was perceived as a ploy to encourage more spending, leaving players frustrated with what they deemed a lack of balance and transparency from ProjectMoon.

One Steam user voiced their concerns: “The cost of Tier 4 is exorbitant, and it’s time-consuming to catch up with the new activity and pulls. ProjectMoon introduces Tier 4, which demands excessive resources, merely to fix a numerical imbalance. It’s disheartening that players have to pay for ProjectMoon’s mistakes.”

However, the most significant factor contributing to the review bombing has been the recent summer event reveal, where the character Ishmael was portrayed wearing a full latex diving suit instead of a swimsuit, as seen in male characters. Fans felt this design discrepancy unequally sexualized the characters based on gender, leading to accusations of bias and even labelling the game and developers as “feminist” by some disgruntled players.

Notably, a considerable portion of these negative reviews emanates from the Korean Limbus Company fanbase. The outcry from players has put ProjectMoon in a challenging position as they grapple with addressing both technical issues and community concerns about character designs.

The combination of unaddressed in-game problems and contentious swimsuit designs has culminated in player frustration and disappointment. The developer’s challenge lies in rectifying the issues at hand and fostering open communication with their passionate community to regain trust and support.
