Iron Man IRL

We may not be at Tony Stark levels of technology just yet, but this London engineer has been the closest to achieving that goal. The best part? It’s available to the public. Yep, for the measly price tag of over $400,000, you too can soar up to 12,000 feet in the air at record speeds of 32 miles per hour. Still sound worth it? Honestly, I’d say yeah.

Introducing the Jet Suit by Richard Browning. The inventor debuted his invention outside Selfridges in London, where it is being sold to the public. The European equivalent is 340,000 Euros, but you better act fast because only nine of them are available.

So how does this tech work? There are five miniature jet engines mounted around the fliers arms and back using 3D-printed technology. The machine runs on either jet fuel or diesel, and comes with jet-suit training, so that Browning and experts can teach how to stay safe while cruising in your own superhero suit. And, if you’re not sure if you wanna drop the dough on it, you can always test out a virtual reality version to see how you like.

Browning claims the machine is “surprisingly calm and not very violent. It’s very passive and gentle when you’re flying it.” Of course, the inventor himself only flew a few meters off of the ground during his demonstration for “safety reasons,” so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are heavy regulations surrounding the machine as it goes on sale to the public.
