Want Amazon Alexa to tell you a joke but tired of her voice? Well, for this month, Amazon has given Alexa users an alternative; The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, will be Alexa’s resident joke teller for the month of November.
Fallon announced the news during one of his shows this week. In order to bring out your Alexa’s inner Jimmy Fallon, just say “Tell me a joke”. Alexa will respond that her friend Jimmy Fallon would like to tell you a joke. The jokes are all light-hearted and cheesy, and given this is the month of November, expect plenty of Turkey/Thanksgiving jokes.
According to Fallon, this is a limited time feature for this month only. However, it is already well into November, so it is unclear if this will continue into the second week of December or end November 31st.
If for some reason, you want to hear Alexa tell you a joke again and you cannot wait until Fallon leaves, tell Alexa “I miss your jokes”, and she will come back.
Ever since Amazon Alexa’s Super Bowl ad spot at the beginning of this year, which featured Cardi B, Rebel Wilson, and Anthony Hopkins as celebrities pitching in their voices for Alexa, users have wondered if we would be getting any more. And it looks like the answer is yes!
What’s not clear is if Amazon will ever include a celebrity voice as a permanent option, but it’s not unreasonable to hope that they will sometime in the future. Voice assistant competitors have already begun using celebrity voices for a number of functions, so it’s more than possible Amazon Alexa will follow suit. I know I sure wouldn’t mind hearing Morgan Freeman telling me the weather.
