Consumer electronics company Sonos is a well-known name in the smart speaker market, and many of their smart speakers are some of the best in their class. A recent FCC filing, has revealed that the company is adding yet another smart speaker to their roster, and this one is a bit special.
Sonos’s newest smart speaker, designated S18, will apparently be a wireless satellite speaker that will work with Sonos’ existing Playbar to make it a smarter device for consumers. The document has been redacted significantly since its initial filing, but it was up long enough for users to get a clear idea of what the S18 will be.
The S18 will include Bluetooth, which is something Sonos users have been wanting for awhile, and wi-fi connectivity. Some were hoping that the newest Sonos smart speaker to hit the market would be a bit cheaper Sonos products are great, but they are also expensive, as the $200 Sonos One is their most inexpensive product. However, given what we know about the S18 so far, it’s safe to assume that Sonos’ newest smart speaker is going to cost a pretty penny.
