Nothing rings in the summer like discount electronics.
Earlier in the week, Amazon announced that their annual Prime Day sale would be returning to its proper summertime slot after being delayed to October by the pandemic last year. Prime Day is a wonderful time for the shopping-enthused; big savings across Amazon’s catalog, not the least of which being savings on popular and coveted electronics. From phones to smartwatches to Roombas and more, if you’re quick enough on the draw, you can get some quality deals on stuff that would otherwise be prohibitively expensive.
Prime Day proper will be held on June 21 and 22 (so it’s really more of a Prime Days), but in the meantime, Amazon has already launched some early-bird deals for folks who have a good idea of what they’re in the market for. These deals probably won’t go lower during the sale proper (though I want to emphasize the “probably” on that), so if you see something you want, you might as well go ahead and pull the trigger.
Firstly, have you gotten in on the smartwatch craze? The New Apple Watch Series 6 is 16% off at $359. That’s the 40mm size with built-in GPS functionality. If you need a new watch and already have an iPhone, you might as well split the difference.
Did you neglect your spring cleaning? Perhaps it’s time to invest in an automated vacuum. The iRobot Roomba 694 is 16% off at $229.99. This bad boy can cover both rugs and hard floors, hunts down stubborn pet hair, and when it’s done for the day, brings itself to the charging cradle.

Are you already making plans for the summer? If you’re gonna be traveling, you’re gonna want a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones. Sony’s Noise-Cancelling Headphones are 36% off at $128 (though only if you get them in blue; black costs extra). These padded over-ear headphones have sound-sensing technology that modulates the degree of noise-cancelling based on your environment. They also feature wireless Bluetooth functionality, as well as a built-in mic for taking phone calls.
If none of these appeal to you, then just wait a couple of weeks for the sale to start in earnest, and you’ll probably find something good.
