Talk a walk alongside some fascinating folks.

I ain’t much of a walker. I get my exercise, sure, but I don’t really see the point in going for a walk for its own sake, at least not by myself. Walks are a little bit nicer when you take them with friends and family, if only so you can pass the time by chatting, but due to the current circumstances, it’s a little harder to hold a conversation while on a walk (it’s also a little hard to go for a walk in general). If you can’t walk with a loved one, perhaps you’d settle for a walk with a celebrity?

Apple Watches have introduced the Time to Walk program, a series of podcasts hosted by various celebrities that encourage you to take a walk while they take a walk of their own, reminiscing on their lives as they go. While it’s not exactly a substitute for a proper conversation, it’s a great way to get yourself outside, all while hearing some fascinating tales from some truly interesting people, including Draymond Green, Uzo Aduba, Shawn Mendes, and Dolly Parton.

Besides reminiscing and pointing out the scenery of their own walks, the folks who record Time to Walk sessions also take some time to offer you some pleasant reassurance. “During this time, Covid and all that, I know a lot of you can’t get out and walk like you do normally, and I’m sure a lot of you feel confined,” says Dolly Parton in her session. “But I know how important it is to be able to walk. So even though we can’t get out and walk around all the places we’d like to this day and time. … I can still take you down on a walk on memory lane. Hopefully with us walking together we’ll feel a little more freedom.”

New episodes of Time to Walk will be added to the Apple Watch Workout app every Monday until the end of April.
