Google vs. Bing


Bing it on, that’s the new slogan for Bings newest marketing campaign. Similar to the Pepsi Challenge in the 1970’s and 1980’s, Bing has set up a blind test in order to figure out which search engine you would be most compatible with. Microsoft is very confident that most consumers would enjoy the Bing search experience over that of Google. As far as marketing goes that is actually a brilliant plan, not only are you letting the consumer take control but you’re also putting your products name out there.  Microsoft launched its first television commercial for the Bing It On challenge during the MTV Video Music Awards Thursday night, Google has yet to comment on Bing’s challenge campaign.

The challenge it’s self is super simple and can be done from your computer. First go to bingiton.com, here you will find a split screen, with two different but similar search engines. They you simply type whatever you’d like to search into the search bar and each side will present you with results. There is no indication as to which search is Google and which Bing is, and then you select which side you like best. After you have searched 5 different items your results are tallied and you’re told whether you’d prefer to be a Bing user or a Google user.  The test it’s self is interactive and somewhat fun and for some people the results are rather surprising.
