You would think that, if robot servers ever took over the customer service industry, we would lose the concept of “service with a smile.” That might not be the case, however, as new robot butlers are invading hotels in the happiest way possible. These robots have a facial display that can express smiles and emotions while contributing to the customer service business.
One multi-compartment robot that has debuted in Vegas hotels, among others, is able to automatically traverse elevators, hallways, and get to occupant’s doors in a timely manner. The robot can carry food and snacks, room service, or take over any small jobs that may seem menial to regular staff.
Instead of this robot trying to take jobs in the customer service industry, the tech advancement is meant to alleviate the smaller issues so that paid employees can focus on more important tasks.
